Biodegradable resins gather momentum for mainstream use

The prospects for biodegradable polymers are improving , as niche markets emerge, dedicated and cost-efficient plants come on-stream, and properties of the materials begin to approximate those of conventional polymers like PS and PP. The trials that plagued the initial generation of biodegradables, including liability suits and degradation deficits, are fading. In Europe especially, legislation is also being bent in favor of wider use of biodegradable packaging materials
