German utility Gelsenwasser AG needed to develop high-quality pipes to preserve the integrity and continuity of the supply and quality of drinking water it supplies to more than 4 million consumers.Subterranean pipes needed to be strong enough to withstand high internal pressures up to 16 bar,external forces,and corrosion found in the soil.It also needed pipes to be light enough to reduce installation and transport costs.
