The Guildford Model Engineering society: Model Steam Rally and Exhibition 2012

Despite the weather, I was looking forward to going to Guildford on the Saturday. It was tipping it down all over the country but luckily the rain pretty much held off between Dorset and Surrey apart from the odd light shower. The car park (a field) was a bit muddy but nothing to worry about, it was easy to park and only a short walk to the exhibition. Next to the ticket office, was this superb traction engine in steam (photo 1). Immediately on entering the grounds was this 3 axes CNC mill (photo 2) that was built by GMES member Chris Boydell. It was in use machining MDF, possibly for pattern making. At least, it looked like a flywheel pattern on the table. The machine appeared to be well made, mainly from aluminium extrusions and mechanical components, mostly courtesy of eBay (photo 3).
