摘要

The aim of this study is to numerically predict the damping effect of baffles on sloshing in tanks partially filled with liquid. The studied phenomena formulation is based on an Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian (ALE) description of the Navier–Stokes equations. The stabilized finite element method known as Galerkin Least Square (GLS) is used. In order to solve the nonlinear problem in its globality, we use a completely implicit partitioned procedure. The obtained results show a good agreement with available numerical, experimental and analytical ones. The vibratory behaviours of three different configurations of tanks equipped with baffles were studied. The effectiveness and the effect of mounting a baffle vertically just at the free surface on the attenuation of sloshing waves and reduction of the overturning moment were underlined.
