GASOLINE IMPORT BILL ALMOST DOUBLES IN 2012

Gasoline imports in calendar year 2012 rose 70% on the year to 3.78 bln litres. 2012 expenditures on gasoline imports amounted to $2.9 bln, up sharply from $1.6 bln one year earlier. This translates into an average price of $123 per barrel, which compares with an average sales price of $98 on the regulated domestic market.
