Infra, auto sector to steer zinc and lead demand

The domestic steel industry is taking rapid strides and has seen overall demand rising with the companies posting positive results. With continued infrastructure development like roads, irrigation, construction, oil & gas, ports etc, there is a rising demand for steel, thus providing significant opportunities for galvanised zinc in India. Further, lead's supply is mostly based on mine production and recycling, which accounts for a larger share in India. Around 50 per cent of production is supplied by recycling industry in which the largest consumer is the battery industry, followed by pigments and sheets. In India, the automobile sector seems to be back on track with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) results drawing a pleasant picture for all the auto companies.
