Palabora Mining Raise-boring ventilation shafts

Two new ventilation shafts at copper mine Palabora Mining in the Limpopo Province will be built using the raise-bore method. Each shaft will be 6,1m diameter and 1,2km deep. JSE-listed Master Drilling was recently awarded a three-year shaft construction contract. Master Drilling designed and built the RD8 raise-boring machine specifically customised for the Palabora contract.
