De Beers to build Snap Lake diamond mine

De Beers is set to begin building its Snap Lake diamond mine in Canada's Northwest Territories. The 636-million Canada dollars mine would be South Africa-based De Beers' first mine in Canada. The Snap Lake Mine is scheduled to begin production in 2007. It would be Canada's first all-underground diamond mine. It would exploit a kimberlite dike, De Beers said.
