To fulfill the desire of the SME Young Leaders to have a unique professional development opportunity, a group mentoring session was initiated at the 2010 SME Annual Meeting in Phoenix AZ. The goal of the group mentoring session is to provide an opportunity for SME Young Leaders to meet an influential leader within the mining industry. The group mentoring sessions are intended to be one-time meetings, not an ongoing mentorship program. During the session, the committee's desire is to have informal conversations that encourage personal and career growth for the Young Leaders.
