I decided to participate in our annual KMK club group build. This year the subject would be a propeller aircraft of any scale. The primary aim of our group build is always to learn from each other and it is of course fun to work on the same subject together with other club members. As a military vehicle builder it would be a nice change of pace, but quite a challenge for me to build and paint something with wings for a change! A small error on a vehicle can easily be camouflaged (so to speak!), but an aircraft would be a completely different discipline, with no room for error. That made the challenge even more exciting... As this would be my first aircraft (if you leave my Airfix models from 35 years ago out of account) I decided to build Tamiya's Corsair in 1/48 scale. My arguments were, besides loving the shape of this iconic warplane with its bent wings, that a model in this scale would still be easy to handle during painting and weathering, and the blue colour would give me plenty of room for weathering.
