IT SEEMS ONE of the maxims which has been adopted by Geoscience Australia (GA) during the current global financial crisis was inspired by the late British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. On the subject of price versus opportunity, Churchill said something akin to: "A pessimist sees a difficulty in every opportunity - an explorer sees the opportunity in every difficulty". At least this is how Dr Neil Williams, chief executive of GA, put it during the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) Incorporated's recent national congress in Western Australia.
