Encouraging signs in Pakistan

Junior Australian explorer Tethyan Copper Company has already encountered some success in the 18 month due diligence program it has put in place to get its Reko Dik copper-gold play in Pakistan to the bankable stage. Recent mapping and trenching work carried out about 500 metres west of Tethyan's H4 Starter project in the country's south west has revealed an extensive zone of haematitic leached capping beneath shallow cover. It's an encouraging sign for the company as such material is usually derived from the leaching of a sulphide rich progenitor. Sulphides leached from the cap rock are typically re-deposited beneath the surface in a zone of supergene enrichment - a common mechanism for the development of ore bodies such as H4 - and Tethyan is now confident it may have found an extension to the deposit.
