THE REPORT CARD? SHOWS PROMISE BUT NEEDS MORE POLISH. THERE'S SOMETHING suspiciously Bavarian about the new Mazda CX-90. Glance around Mazda's new large SUV and there are multiple echoes of BMW. The taillights have a hint of BMW XM while G50e, denoting the CX-90 model grade, has a certain Munich ring to it. Mazda's rotary infotainment controller, meanwhile, is more than a little iDrive. And someone has plonked a 254kW 3.3-litre turbo straight-six under its bonnet. Mazda would doubtless appreciate comparison to one of the world's most coveted brands, given that it's aspiring to a more premium positioning - and price.
