A fast, simple, and efficient matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) analytical technique, requiring only small quantities of sample and organic solvent, was developed and validated for the determination of the pesticidesatrazine, lindane, bifenthrin, deltamethrin, permethrin, cypermethrin, ethion, alachlor, and pirimicarb in eggs of the chicken Gallus gallus domesticus. The pesticides were extracted from lyophilized egg matrix using Florisil? as dispersant, C_(18) as cleanup sorbent, and acetonitrile as elutant. The analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). At concentration levels of 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 μg g~(-1), recoveries of the pesticides were in the range 62%-95%, with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 0.1%-18% (except deltamethrin, for which the RSD was 30%). The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were in the ranges 0.003-0.015 μg g~(-1) and 0.010-0.050 μg g~(-1), respectively. Lyophilization was required in order to ensure interaction of the pesticides with the egg matrix. The method was used to analyze a total of eight commercial egg samples obtained from local sources, and bifenthrin was detected in one sample.
