In order to optimize production time by reducing interruptions, the main causes found were analyzed to see if there is a. pattern or a common reason for (heir occurrence. Interruptions have been studied in the electric arc furnace (EAF), Ladle Furnace refining (LF) and continuous casting machine (CCM). There are two types of interruptions: operative interruptions (I0) and nonoperative interruptions (INO). Operative interruptions are scheduled interruptions, repetitive, they have a time frame and their frequency of occurrence is known. The only accepted interruptions are the operative ones. Nonoperative interruptions are not scheduled and the lime dedicated to solve these issues is difficult to estimate. All unscheduled interruptions affect productivity and thus they must be known in order to be prevented or minimize.
