Siberian smelter construction project moves to pilot plant stage

Construction of a pilot aluminium plant in Taishet, in Russia's Irkutsk region, should be complete by the start of the fourth quarter this year, Victor Sukhovoy, general director of Alucom-Taishet, the company set up to manage the project told MB.The project is backed by Alucom4nvest, the company of Boris Gromov, former general director of the Bratsk aluminium plant. It aims eventually to build a full-scale smelter with a capacity of 200,000-250,000 tpy of primary aluminium.
