Rectangular Shaped Pre-Engineered Steel Rigid Framing System Meets Demands of Phoenix Aviation Department

Prior to June 2000, cargo space was limited at Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix, AZ. The City of Phoenix Aviation Department requested a new facility that would double the airport's cargo capacity.The South Air Cargo Complex needed to be fully connected for telecommunications, the flexible to satisfy tenant demands, yet durable for a 50-year life cycle. Key shippers, Federal Express and United Parcel Service, required functional bulk and sort cargo space directly adjacent to air and ground service to provide faster customer service, improved working conditions for employees and future expansion. The building needed to conform to the airport's general master plan, FAA restrictions and adjacent Air National Guard. Also, the airport required a 2'-candle lighting system at 300' on the airside.
