He's not the first, and he won't be the last. In fact, some 150 000 motorists fill their tank with the wrong fuel every year - which, if he knew, would be small consolation for the stranded driver now kicking himself for his error. Help is soon at hand, though, in the form of a Mercedes-Benz van wearing the familiar, bright orange livery of the RAC. Patrol Ben Wilson assesses the situation and decides that the road is too hazardous for him to be able to drain the tank there and then. The stricken vehicle must, therefore, be towed to a safer location. Ben lifts the rear tailgate of his van to reveal a fold-out trailer, which he quickly deploys before winching the car up and onto its twin wheels, then tightening the securing straps. Just 10 minutes after he arrived at the scene, Ben is driving away, another recovery successfully completed.
