Our Toyota Hilux 4x4 had served us extremely well for 23 years and we had covered almost 170,000 kilometres in her. For ten years, Elias, a house-painter who often worked in our complex, had been wanting to buy it. In February 2008 we finally decided,for various reasons, that we should give up our 4x4 travels. When we contacted Elias to ask him if he was still interested, he was over the moon with excitement and within a week, he had paid us a substantial deposit. It was agreed that we would still use the vehicle until he had finished paying off the balance, after which we would transfer ownership to him.
