Context and setting Clinical education is an integral part of undergraduate health care education. A significant proportion of undergraduate preparation for health care and reinforcement of clinical theory in the university sector involves opportunities to gain experience in a variety of clinical placement settings. Clinical DVD simulations were developed for undergraduate students enrolled in paramedic, nursing, occupational therapy and physiotherapy degrees at Monash University. The simulations were filmed in a variety of locations in pre-hospital, hospital, rehabilitation and community settings. The simulations included authentic and relevant clinical problems likely to be encountered by students on clinical placements and involved multiple health care agencies. An important element of the simulations included the notion of interprofessional education (IPE), in order that students might gain a better understanding and appreciation of other health care professions.
