Physicists from the University at Buffalo have released computer simulations that demonstrate how it may be possible to build bridges, buildings, and other structures that are nearly blast-proof, using a specialized shock-absorption system. The technology can also be applied to achieve life-saving improvements in tanks and aircraft carriers, as well as bullet-proof vests and other protective clothing for soldiers, law enforcement officers, and even outdoor enthusiasts, the researchers say.
