The seasonal shortage of Russian railcars looks to be intensifying this year and is resulting in a number of exporters from the Baltic and North Russian ports deferring August and September cargoes. In addition, a number of Russian mines are looking to cease production - some Kuzbass mines may have stopped already - as a consequence. These problems are being seen across the whole range of Russian suppliers and across all Baltic ports, according to one supplier, who said it had already agreed with its customers to postpone around 200,000t over the two months. However, exporters are confident that the worst of the seasonal railcar shortage will be over by end-September/early-October.
