The London and Southern Counties Minerals Industries Institute is continuing the Commodities Day series this year by focusing on copper. The event will be held on 22 November at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' head office in Great George Street, London. With the rapid pace of industrial development, copper has renewed importance, not only for the electrical and electronic industries, but also for chemical manufacture and analysis, pipes, architecture and medicine. The agenda will take a 'cradle-to-grave' approach, covering the location of ore deposits, and recycling and environmental remediation of sites. Speakers will include Alan Wilson of Anglo American on the geology of deposits and exploration, and Tim Smith, Vice President Copper of SNC-Lavalin, on processing.
