Are quantitative measurements by electrochemical diagnostic procedures possible?

In order to guarantee the demanded run-time of chemical and petrochemical production plants and to keep them in up most technical conditions, an alignment between maintenance strategy, inspection intervals, and diagnostic methods is necessary. For the determination of the useful life of an equipment, it is necessary to select testing methods, which possess high sensitivity and long PF intervals (lead time to failure). This approach supports an optimal condition-based maintenance program to avoid unplanned shutdown. In order to monitor corrosion processes, electrochemical methods can be successfully employed. In this paper, contributions of some online diagnostic methods are described, especially concerning their quantitative presentation.
