The proceedings began with a presentation by Lynn Postle, ICME Commercial Manager and Editor of Foundryman on the Institute's name change and the future opportunities for growth. Lynn, Secretary Andrew Turner and National President David Rowlands have actively been a part of the recent ICME roadshow-a campaign to visit branch and sections to assist with the transition from IBF to ICME.Lynn detailed the importance of the branch/section structure and the need for increased co-ordination of efforts between the regions and head office. Lynn spoke of the 'perceived' increase in market opportunities because the new name represented a greater appeal to a wider audience and she reported on the responses already received following the change. Also present was National President David Rowlands who was, along with Lynn, on hand to answer questions on ICME policies and, in particular, the progress route to professional status via the Eng. Tech, I.Eng and C.Eng qualifications.
