THEY are the perfect soldiers in the war against inefficiency: they don't sleep, eat, take breaks and can perform mind numbingly mundane tasks over and over again indefinitely; so why is industry interested in robots that are more 'human'? The answer is simply because there are still tasks such as assembly or polishing operations that require the 'human touch' - vision and tactile senses - in order to ensure quality and accuracy of processes.
