Engineering business offers opportunities for school-leavers

Alcester-based Smith Bros & Webb Ltd, the manufacturer of Britannia washing systems, was praised for its vision and foresight by local MP Nadhim Zahawi when he visited its headquarters to see at first hand the opportunities being offered to young people. Mr Zahawi heard that the company, which exports all over the world, is looking to launch a new apprenticeship scheme, as well as recruit more engineers to join its installation, repair and maintenance teams in the UK. The expansion comes as the company enjoys a growing UK order book from bus and commercial fleet operators, as well as buoyant sales abroad, especially from the Far East, Middle East, India and Australia.
