On September 7th, the Northeast Section met for the second time at the National Bottle Museum in Ballston Lake, New York. This Museum is locate just a few miles from Saratoga Springs, the site of the National Symposium in 2003. The turnout for our meeting was good with over 60 members and families. Our hosts Jan and Larry Rutland introduced us to their newly-expanded glassblowing /tank studio where demonstrations were given. The first was by Wayne Martin at the lathe on graded seals. The other three were bench demos on various small apparatus such as 30 ml pipettes, a short path still head, and a 90 degree bend inside of a dewar done respectively by Barry Lafler, David Wise, and Georges Kopp, who traveled down from Canada. Lastly, Mike Souza showed his skill in crocheting a ship. Thanks to our vendors Heathway and Wale for the equipment used.
