Aliphatic copoly(ester-amide)s containing short, uniform amide blocks were synthesized from dimethyl adipate, 1,4-butanediol and dimethyl 7,12-diaza-6,13-dioxo-1,1,18-octadecanedioate by polycondensation in the melt using tetrabutyl(orthotitanoate) as a catalyst. The bisamide blocks were randomly distributed as was shown by H-1 NMR. M-w values of around 50 000 g.mol(-1) and molecular weight distributions M-w/M-n close to 2 were obtained for all poly(ester-amide)s. [References: 10]
