PRINCIPLES OF SOCIETAL DEVELOPMENT

There are increasing disparities of wealth, power, and security on the global platform. Economic liberalization is widening the gap between the 'haves' and 'have-nots' especially in developing societies. Political events in recent memory solidify the assertion that the power nations and regions can easily translate elements of globalization rules, rights, and values and impose them at the global level. New rules and norms, whether about investment, military security, environmental management, or social policy, are being made by those countries with the power to shape outcomes and to control international institutions. Since the 1970s, technological advancement, instead of assisting in the development and enrichment of poorer nations, is exacerbating inequalities of resources, knowledge, wealth and indigenous rights. Some social scientists have long argued that inequalities in world politics are vindicated by the traditional conception that "order is best maintained through hierarchy among states." Some argue that rather than being characterized as an economic tool for stabilizing world economies, financial wealth and international business, globalization is fast becoming a tool for shaping the new world order and political dominance. On the other hand, international security, major import and export of goods as well as fiscal competition bring necessary economic realities that can only be achieved by this political hierarchy. The result of the fuzzy edge of world dominance and economic propagation effects of globalization suggests an interesting academic study.
