Not only can safer driving save lives and prevent spills, for many it can also mean keeping their jobs, as I discovered recently on a speed awareness course. Joining me on the course was an HGV driver who explained that most hauliers have very strict policies relating to the employment and retention of drivers with points on their licences-even more so in fuel logistics. Chatting to some of: the industry's biggest operators this is most definitely the case - one company told me that they would be unlikely to employ a driver who had points on their licence.
