Kiwis and what else is the talk of the industry in New Zealand

This is of course the time of year in which kiwis are the No. 1 subject in New Zealand. How good was the harvest? Is the fructose content high enough? Is there enough Kiwi Cold? What is Zespri paying for a tray this year? And as a result - what's going on in the markets? These questions aren't at all easy to answer - and the answers can't all be given in one day anyway. Most of the answers won't be forthcoming until later in the season. However, kiwi producers were given slightly more information onthe financial side of things at the general meeting held at the end of July. The chairman of Zespri International, Craig Creen/ees, informed the general meeting that, as in 2004, the unfavourable exchange rate will reduce profits by about NZ 50 million dollar.
