FLOORING FOR THE FRUIT PROCESSING INDUSTRY

The demands on industrial flooring for the food industry have always been stringent - the vital requirement for hygienic conditions affects not only processing systems, but the environment in which they are taking place. Flooring plays a key role in maintaining hygiene levels. As well as providing a safe footing, floor finishes should contribute to a pleasant, safe and efficient working environment, and they must be non-porous and easy to clean to facilitate the maintenance of hygiene standards. In the fruit processing sector in particular the demands placed on floor finishes are significant: they must survive heavy traffic, high temperatures and thermal shock and be resistant to the various fruit acids, sugars, flavourings and preservatives as well as the chemicals used for cleaning and sanitising not just the floor but the plant and equipment too.
