Primary diffuse large B cell lymphoma over femoral supracondyle on an 80-year-old woman: Case report and literature review

We reported an 80-year-old female who was treated as simple osteoporotic femoral supi~acondylar fracture initially at another hospital. However, the pain persisted for two months post-operatively and hence she visited our hospital for second opinion. We made the diagnosis of femoral supracondylar pathologic fracture caused by primary diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Her symptom improved a lot after our revision surgery. Primary bone lymphoma is a rare disease with slight male predominance (M:F = 1.8:1). The median age at diagnosis ranges from mid-40s to mid-60s. Therefore, the age and gender of our case is not typical. We hope our case report could remind orthopedic surgeons should always keep the differential diagnosis of pathologic fracture in mind, especially when there is any discrepancy between trauma mechanism and fracture.
