Parties Spar over Request of Three Nation Alliance for an Extension of Comment Period for Downeast's Draft Environmental Statement

The Washington County Commissioners recently vigorously objected to a motion filed by Shems, Dunkiel, Raubvogel & Saunders PLLC on behalf of Nulankeyutomonen Nkihtahkomikumon (We Take Care of Our Land), Save Passamaquoddy Bay - Canada, Inc, and Save Passamaquoddy Bay - United States (SPB) (the Three Nation Alliance), requesting a 90-day extension of the public comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) prepared for the Downeast LNG project (CP07-52 et al.). The petitioners for a stay had among other things compared Downeast's environmental review scope and complexity to that of the proposal in Bradwood Landing, "with the added consideration of cross-border impacts with Canada."
