Mid-America Pipeline Responds to Complaint of Flint Hills That Rates for Movement of Heavy Liquids on Northern System Are Excessive and Should Correspond to Rates Charged for Propane

Mid-America Pipeline Co., LLC (MAPL) recently responded to the complaint filed by Flint Hills Resources, LP (OR10-2) in November that challenges the justness and reasonableness of MAPL's rates for movements of butane, isobutane, natural gasoline, naphtha and refinery grade butane (collectively, "heavies") from Conway, Kansas to Pine Bend, Minnesota. The rates challenged by Flint Hills specifically involve movements of "heavies" from Conway to Pine Bend on the West Red Line of MAPL's Northern System. MAPL denied the allegations in the complaint and submitted that the complaint should be dismissed. MAPL answered that Flint Hills has failed to allege any reasonable ground for investigation of its rates, either its general commodity rates or seasonal discount rates for the movement of heavies. MAPL is wholly owned by Enterprise Products Partners LP. (FNGR No. 2771, pp25-26).
