Automatic filter cleans up wash water at UK paper mill

When it opened for business in the 1980s,the Shotton paper mill,in North Wales,UK,was the first domestic national manufacturer of newsprint.The plant has faced increasing competition since those days and is now owned and operated by the international UPM-Kymmene Group.A recent expansion project has increased the amount of product that the plant can handle with some 600,000 tonnes of newsprint now being processed every year.The recent plant enhancement includes the installation of a new automatic Bollfliter system to provide fine filtration,down to 100 micron,for the process wash water.
