In this issue there are well-informed articles on the twin subjects of forest carbon trading and woodfuel. I would like to offer some thoughts which may bring the two together. First, do not be put off by the recent scientific journal reports that trees, and even grass, breathe out methane and thus cause global warming; the German scientists quickly explained that this was not what they meant. The Sunday Times tells us that some pop singers are questioning whether their rather expensive carbon-scheme trees are really achieving what was intended. Their doubts may well be justified. But FTA/ConFor is working on a scheme to overcome these doubts.
