The complete nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequences of the chelonianin (a member of the prophenoloxidase system family) gene of P. monodon are presented. Total RNA extracted from the shrimp were used to develop primers, which subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify the complementary DNA fragment encoding the chelonianin gene. The gene shows a relatively high amino acid sequence identity with that of Japanese dace Tribolodon hakoensis (47.29%) and loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta (37.21%).
