Peacock Salt, established in 1874, celebrated its 140th anniversary last year. In its formative years it was primarily engaged in the shipping business and transported a range of raw materials such as coal, wood and salt.However, with the post-war increase in the number of roads, and therefore an increase in the salt requirement to de-ice those roads, Peacock Salt's imports steadily grew to service the public sector.
