Many 'hands' make light work as David Giles found out when he introduced horse power into his forestry and tree work operation in Oxfordshire. Suzanne Kelsey takes up his story. 'I feel sure that horse logging will make a contribution to work in woodlands and that horses have a place in modern forestry', David, who finds himself increasingly called upon to bring his own horse in to work to remove timber from restricted areas, told FBT. 'Done in a professional way, it is an efficient means of shifting a lot of timber in a difficult position', he added and this is something which both he and the people who use his help are increasingly finding.
