The introduction of statutory technical requirements in Scotland has been on the cards since the drafting of the Aquaculture and Fisheries (Scotland) Act 2013, which came into force on September 16, 2013.The Act enables Scottish ministers to make regulations which require the fish farming industry to adopt a Scottish Technical Standard (STS) to ensure the installation and deployment of equipment that is well maintained and appropriate for the site conditions on all Scottish finfish farms.
