Westree had been around as a sawmill for 28 years before Keith, with a background in heavy plant (he was a UK Komatsu pioneer), decided it was right for him six years ago. He inherited a 1942 Stenner Rack Bench and a list of customers to the mill overthe past 20 years; both of which he set about improving. With hardwood - mostly oak - being some 70% of his operation and all timber being cut to client spec including over-sized butts, Keith realised the Stenner needed some assistance. As he supplies most of the needs of local timber merchants for hard and soft cut timber, Keith set out to look for a new mill.
