摘要

The most recent impact factor for Foodbome Pathogens and Disease is a respectable 2.442 (2008 Journal Citation Reports published by Thomson Reuters, 2009). The impact factor is a measure of the frequency with which the "average article" in a journal has been cited in a given period of time and is calculated based on a 3-year period, and can be considered to be the average number of times published papers are cited one or two years after publication. The impact factor is frequently used as a proxy for the importance of a journal to its field. Impact factors are becoming more and more important as some scientists will publish their research only in high-impact-factor journals.
