M&G Chemicals plans biomass-to-ethanol plant

M&G Chemicals, through a jv project with China-based Guozhen Group Co, will build a second-generation biorefinery in Fuyang, Anhui, China, that will process 1 M tonnes of biomass into ethanol and bioglycols. Guozhen Group will supply wheat straw and corn stover to the biorefinery and use the lignin coproduct to feed a 45 MW cogeneration plant to be co-located with the biorefinery. M&G Chemicals will have major ownership at the biorefinery and minor ownership at the power plant.
