Clariant paid more than 2 bn to acquire BTP in 2000,as part of its drive to become a leading supplier of pharmaceutical intermediates.In May 2006,Clariant revealed that it is selling its pharmaceutical fine chemicals business for a mere 56 M,plus up to 32 M depending on the performance of the business over the next two years.The purchaser is TowerBrook Capital Partners,a private equity firm based in New York,which plans to run the acquired business under a new name-Archimica.
