Taiwan's Formosa Group is a company that can erect large petrochemicals plants in China and be profitable. It has just completed the giant Mailiao complex in Taiwan, and wants to expand considerably in China. Thee was optimism last spring that Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) would soon begin construction of a 1M tonnes/y cracker in China.
