MARKET SUMMARY:In the US,the price drive has flattened in October.The emphasis has shifted to booking sales at levels near last done and placing physical tonnes.For the US autumn direct application season,tonnes already need to be in place.A slowdown in phosphate production has moderated ammonia uptake.In Tampa second half October contracts have been agreed at US365 pt cfr(US5 pt higher than the first half Oct contract price).The market has slowed in October but there are signs the market may step up again in November.A US Gulf sale has been reported at US382 pt cfr for first half November delivery.The impact of gas prices holding above US13 mm Btu continues to radiate through the market.CF Industries(see US section)made an announcement that due to high gas prices it will operate Donaldsonville at 50% capacity through to the end of 2005.CF Industries will increase purchases of finished nitrogen fertilizer products,including ammonia,urea,and UAN solutions,to reduce the company's exposure to high natural gas prices.
