INDIA’S STATE-owned Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. (RCF) has proposed to invest $1.5 billion to set up a 2.3 mt/year urea and ammonium nitrate (AN) plant in Ghana. The proposed project, which will be a joint venture with Ghana’s government and possibly another Indian investor, was announced by RCF’s outgoing chairman and managing director U.S. Jha earlier this week (see also “New hand at RCF helm” on page. 10). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is reported to be set to be signed between the parties on July 4.
