TERRA INDUSTRIES this week announced first-quarter ncome of $30 million, down from $100.2 million for the same period in 2008, with lower demand and lower prices explaining the difference in the year-over-year results. Revenues for the quarter ended March 31 totalled $419.8 million, compared to $574.7 million for the 2008 first quarter. "This $154.9 million decrease in revenues from the 2008 to he 2009 first quarter was due primarily to lower ammonia selling prices and UAN and ammonium nitrate sales volumes," he company said. "Ammonia selling prices decreased by 27% compared to the same period last year, while UAN and AN selling prices remained substantially the same."
